Background: Dane had a normal childhood in a normal city. He grew up just like mny other children, and took for granted a lot of things, like the roof over his head and the incredible safety his childhood in the city offered him. Sure, muggings and accidents were possible, but compared to most, he lived a blessed life. He had many friends, but none of them were close to him. They all seemed too artifical, too eager to be popular, or cool. His family was even alien to him, they seemed to think they knew him, but anything else was closer to the truth. When he was 17, his life was flipped upside down. He was walking through the woods in the monstorous park about a mile from his home when he saw a wolf. This wolf was black as the bottom of the ocean, with bright silver spots. It was standing right in front of him on the path, and he had no awareness of it being there until the very second he was staring into it's eyes. Strangely, and against all conventional sense, he felt no fear, but a calming feeling course through him. He felt awake now. Like his life had been surreal. Then it was as if his life was sand art, and it was gone in one swift breath. Within the week, he was gone. He stopped going to school, said goodbye to family, and left his hometown. He found a talented trainer, and learned the way of the sword. It took two years of hard work and dedication, but by the end of his apprenticeship, he could outfence anyone, including he who taught him. He possesed an incredible ability to sense what his opponents intentions were, and an amazing reaction time to channel that knowledge to the correct place. And everywhere he went, the wolf followed, barely seen on the edge of his vision, hiding in the shadows. For two years he dedicated himself to his new work, traveling and honing his skill against the grain of the myriad of people in the land. During this time, he got closer and closer to this mysterious wolf, and one day, it walked right up to him, just like it had on that first fateful day, four years previous. He crouched down, that same sense of calmness guiding him. He placed his hand slowly on it's head and stared into it's eyes. Dane knew that it was a he, and he knew his name was Ryuk. He never went anywhere without him now, and they seeked contracts and jobs wherever they went.
